Our world was devastated Friday night with the untimely death of our father/grandfather/uncle/rock, Leo Becnel. His unwavering devotion to our family was a constant source of comfort we carry with us as we face these difficult times.
Dad was a man of strong character and Southern values who worked tirelessly to bring his vision of a vineyard to life. His dream is our dream and we will continue to work hard and honor his legacy.
On behalf of myself and my family, thank you for the outpouring of comforting words and shared memories. Many tears are being shed but we know that Dad deserves every one of them.

To the Becnel family,
I am so saddened for your loss. Your father was a very nice and caring man and I was lucky to have him as my doctor for many years. During my appointments we would talk and laugh about various things and I always thought that he really cared about his patients. Although I would only see him once a year and didn’t know him well, I felt in my heart that he was a good person. When I would recommend him to my friends, they always had good things to say about him and were so happy to have him as their doctor. I normally would not get emotional about such things as this but I am working in Taiwan this week and heard the news from my friend who is also a patient. The news hit me hard for some reason. This is truly a terrible loss for your family and the community.
Sincerely,
Mike Herbold
